The second part of our new family values statement is LOVE OTHERS. Of course, this too is kind of obvious, but we want to be doing this in an intentional way. I’ve found that it’s easy for me to cruise through a few weeks or months of life in our home without intentionally loving the people around us.
My husband loves to have people over, so I am going to spend some time planning, inviting, and learning to love people through having them over for a meal. This is not my personal high-point; I’m not naturally a great cook, and I feel I lack the gift of “hostessing” very well! However I want to put others before my pride (I am reading ‘Humility: True Greatness‘ by CJ Mahaney right now and it’s a huge help!), before my need to be perfect before I serve, and before my desire to have “the perfect home”.
This spring/summer season will hopefully be full of many fun memories of entertaining others in our home!

I like your list of family values too! I think I may have too many yet it was so hard to scale our list down. I like how you are covering each one in more detail.

I struggled to keep it short and sweet too! You came up with a great list
